ABOUT ARMOR-X
Armor-X
is a brand that designs, manufactures and markets Armor-X gears for full
weather protection with excellent functionality. Armor-X is inspired by the
Armor, a protective covering used to prevent damage from being inflicted to any
object. The "X" was added to the name and highlighted in their
designs which are used for extreme environments and sports.

UNBOXING THE ARMOR-X
We
can see that Armor-X pays attention to the fine details from the many
accessories included.
A carabineer strap which will be used to strap your Armor-X casing for easy portability while performing extreme sports
An
audio jack cable provided for connecting standard headphones for answering
phone calls and listening to your favorite tracks while you hike and
optional waterproof headphones (sold separately)
And an instruction manual to make sure we know how to install the case properly. In actual fact, this case is so user friendly there is practically no need to go through the instructions at all. Yes, it is THAT easy to use the Armor-X.

IN DEPTH LOOK
There
is a clear polycarbonate shield protecting the sensitive camera lens and
microphone from dangerous elements i.e.. water, dirt, dust, etc. Most of the
photos taken in this review were taken using an iPhone 5S/5 with the Armor-X
installed. In our tests, flash photographs didn't fare so well as there was no
flash diffuser; however, as you can see the photographs are crystal clear and
no form of distortion whatsoever.
The
Armor-X comes with 3 ribbed clasps, two on the sides and one at the bottom
where the charge port is. The clasps hold the top and bottom of the case firmly
together, providing the much wanted waterproof seal. The clasps also prevent
the case from snapping open in the event of an accidental drop.
The
manufacturers have chosen to use a matte screen protector. In our past
experiences, other manufacturers have opted to use clear plastic screen
protectors. This has caused the phenomenon known as the rainbow effects aka
Newton Rings. The only downside is that there is a slight graininess in the
display and photos taken using the front facing cam will be slightly blurred.
The fact that Armor-X chose a matted material ensures that there are no rainbow
rings that interfere with the visibility of the screen display.
There
is a flexible waterproof seal attached to the X-mount. It blends in seamlessly
with the overall look of the Armor-X and can be removed when you are ready to
attach the various X-Mount accessories (more on that later)
Once the X-Mount seal is removed, you can observe the actual port. This brings the convenience of attaching the Armor-X mobile device to multiple Armor-X accessories such as the bike mount or dashboard mount.
Mounted in the bottom left of the armor-x is the headphone jack screw with an o-ring to give a tight seal against water leakages.
At
the bottom right of the case you will find a strap holder opening for you to
install various accessories and straps. You can also attach the carabineer
strap for extreme activities.
INSTALLING THE CASE
Installing
the case is a breeze. All we had to do was open the three clips which allows
the front part of the case to flip open. Insert the iPhone 5S/ 5 in, flip the
front portion down and secure the clips.
It
only took us 15 seconds to do it. For your information we were using a tempered
glass screen protector (we purchased this HERE) and an aluminum home button. The Armor-X adapted to the extra 0.4mm thickness of the screen without
compromising on the waterproof seal.
The
other waterproof cases we tried from other manufacturers forced us to remove
our expensive screen protectors. We are glad Armor-X allowed us to use any
screen protector we wished.
USING THE CASE
In
our time reviewing this case, we had a thorough hands on and feel of the Armor-X.
One of the main noticeable things were how light it was. It did not add much
noticeable weight to the device.
The
lack of any push through buttons for the silent switch toggle, volume buttons
and lock button was a disappointment. This is a minor gripe as we use touch
assist (learn how to turn on Touch Assist HERE) which let us manipulate the iPhone
5S 5 buttons via the on screen display.
We
put the Armor-X through a series of tests, and it fared very well. This is
easily the most waterproof case with no chance of leakages whatsoever. Once the
case is installed on the iPhone 5S/5, your phone will be fully enclosed within
a waterproof shell. Unlike other waterproof cases available in the market,
there are no openings whatsoever. Check out the photos below for various
situations we placed the Armor-X in...
CALL QUALITY
Once
your iPhone 5S/5 is installed in the Armor-X, it becomes what Armor-X has said
it would : a GPS, Action Camera, etc
One thing which we found out that while using the Armor-X, answering calls directly using the iPhone 5S/5 was less than satisfactory. Because the Armor-X has such a tight waterproof seal on the iPhone 5S/5 and because there are no open ports to allow for air flow, sound waves were not allowed to travel. We could listen to the recipient on the other end of the line through the integrated screen protector; however, the recipient could not hear us.
It
seems that Armor-X expected this as they provided a waterproof audio headphone
adapter that screws into the bottom of the case. We were able to use our
earpods with the Armor-X to make and receive calls. Another viable option is to
use a bluetooth earpiece which is a safer option while you are performing any
extreme activities require both your hands.
WHO IS THIS FOR
The Armor-X
is most suited for those who are involved in extreme activities such as biking,
mountain climbing, rock climbing, kayaking, etc.
There is almost no chance of
this case leaking due the high quality waterproof seal and due to the fact that
there are no open vents and ports. The high quality carabineer clip comes in
handy as well as you can attach the Armor-X to yourself as you immerse yourself
in your activities.
ACCESSORIES
The Armor-X
has its touted X-mount system on the back of the Armor-X case. This allows this
case a huge amount of versatility with the amount of accessories and mounts
available from Armor-X.
These
accessories are readily available from Armor-X and include headrests, wall
mounts, suction cup mounts, chest mount harness, helmet mount, bike mounts, and
more. There are many mounting systems designed for extreme activity vehicles
ie. sport bicycles, bikes, snowmobiles, jet boats, speed boats, and more.
Armor-X has also developed an extreme sport series mounting system that
transforms the iPhone 5S 5 into an action camera.
The
possibilities are endless.
CONCLUSION 4/5
Despite
the minor gripes we had about the matte protector and the absence of push
through buttons, the Armor-X is easily the most waterproof case we have ever
reviewed. The Armor-X creates a super tight waterproof seal and has no ports
and openings which prevents any accidental leaks which have experienced in
other waterproof cases.
If
you are looking for a shockproof and waterproof case for your extreme
activities and for use in extreme conditions, this is an easy decision. The
Armor-X will suit your needs just fine.

FIX: iPhone 5 "Share with Message" Occupies Half of the Screen / Keyboard in the Middle

Good day people, if your screen looks like this:
Where the "Share with Message" screen occupies only the top half of the screen and the keyboard is in the middle, this usually occurs when you have installed some JB tweaks and things go awry.
This is the solution:
- Uninstall Appsync
- Use iFile/iFunbox and navigate to \private\var\mobile\caches
- Delete the following files:
- com.apple.mobile.installation.plist
- com.apple.LaunchServices-045.csstore
- Reboot your iPhone 5
- Problem should be fixed.
- Reinstall Appsync (Optional)

INTRODUCTION
Hello guys, my name is Sean and I'm from Malaysia. I have been reselling Lifeproof since it's birth back in 2011 and have not stopped since. As an official Lifeproof reseller I am glad to share this awesome case with my family and friends in Malaysia. As of August 2012, replicas of the Lifeproof cases are starting to penetrate the Malaysian market. This is worst when the seller advertises these replicas as "original with 1 year warranty" leading many to believe they are getting the same case for a fraction of the cost.
The reason for this post is to do a detailed comparison on what the differences are between the original and the replica Lifeproof cases. Hope you find this informative and use the information here to avoid being scammed or at least you should know what you're getting for the price you're paying. Here we go...
LIFEPROOF: ORIGINAL VS REPLICA
At first glance there is absolutely nothing different from the packaging. The copycats really nailed it on this one, here have a look...

Now that we have got the packaging out of the way, let's open it up and have a look inside. Here are some comparison photographs for your reference :
We can see from the above photographs that the QR code and website links are missing in the replica Lifeproof case. We can see the photograph below of the microfiber cloth, the original has imprinted the "Lifeproof" logo where else the one that comes with the replica is just a plain white microfiber cloth :
Let's have a look at the camera from the outside and from the inside :
The original Lifeproof case has a bigger and rounder opening compared to the smaller opening on the replica. There is also a flash diffuser on the glass camera lens which is not present on the replica.
Very briefly, it looks like there is a rubber piece where the ear piece is on the original Lifeproof case.
Observe the little home button sticker on the original case and observe there is nothing on the replica. There is also a unique serial number that comes with the original Lifeproof case for warranty claims.
And here we come to the back cover. On the left you can see the serial number that you will need for warranty claims. On the replica there is no serial number. (Note : although it is not shown on the photograph, there is a yellow O-ring that comes installed with the replica. I forgot to put it back after it came off - easily).
Surprisingly it did pass a 30 minute water test, it was dry on the inside when I took it out. Does it work? Apparently it does.

SUMMARY
Does the replica case work? Yeah it does. However there are some important points to consider if you decide to get the replica :
- You're on your own if/when your case fails
- Build quality is not as good as the original
- You may or may not experience washed out photographs when you use the LED flash.
- Most importantly, the profits go to someone else instead of Lifeproof who has been the brain child of this one of a kind waterproof case.
- Lifeproof support and warranty claims (I have had good experiences so far!)
- Great build quality and feel.
- Take great photographs underwater or above.
- Waterproof, shockproof, dustproof and snowproof!

I have received my white Lifeproof iPhone 4 case today. Took a while as I ordered end of May 2011 and it arrived Mid-July 2011. The Lifeproof case included the following items:
- Lifeproof Case
- All-weather headphone adapters (free for pre-orders only)
- Microfiber cloth (use something better, this quality is cheap)
- Spare headphone jack screw
- Instructions
First impressions:
- Gosh this is flimsy!
- Very lightweight
- The material feels good in hand.
- Very beautiful packaging
- Fingerprint magnet
- Dust magnet
- Chick/Dude magnet (kidding)...
Lifeproof tests each and every case before they ship it out but recommends a 1 hour water test to make sure the case doesn't leak. I tested mine for 20 minutes and said "Screw it I'm putting the case on NOW". Points on putting on and taking off the case are...
- Snaps really tight
- It's tough to take apart
- Cleaning it is really difficult because you need to make sure the phone and case surface is thoroughly wiped, dry and has no bodily fluids/oils.
- Impossible to get it totally dust free.
- Rainbow effects were present but making sure you wipe it with a good microfiber that absorbs oil will minimize the rainbow effects. Mine appears only 5% of the time and overall it is bearable.
Immediately after putting on the case I tested it by making this video of my fishpond.
After using it a while here is my quick first impression of my Lifeproof iPhone
- FREEDOM!
- It feels solid in the hand.
- Having a white case is as close to getting a white iPhone without paying a bomb
- No worries anymore (my sisters are fond of throwing water balloons at me at the most unsuspecting moments)
- Rainbow effects are very minimum and bearable.
- It does add some considerable width. One handed operations will be a little tougher.
- The case reverberates when the speaker is active (ie. playing songs)... this means that sometimes you can hear flapping distortions, etc.
- The screen takes some getting used to due to the small air gap between the protector and the iphone screen. However the gap should reduce in approx 1-2 weeks as per reports from Lifeproof and other case users.
In summary, if you don't want to worry about getting wet in the pond, the rain, the beach, etc. you wanna do your stuff knowing your iPhone is fine and taken care well of? This is the case for you.
